Paramania Australia holds an annual Cross country supported Paramotor expedition open to all pilots of Paramania wings. 2018 will be the fourth event and planning is currently
underway. Check back here for updated info on the trip as the details are finalised in early 2018.
The expeditions have been as short as three days and as long as two weeks. We have spent over 6 hours in the air in one day. Have flown with air speeds as low as 2 Kph and as high as 116 Kph! Landing sites have been as big as runways,
all the way down to only a handful of square meters when we had to land on the top of a sand dune in the Simpson desert, to assist one of the bogged support vehicles. Accommodation is usually bush camping. Long Cross country flights can
be technically challenging and do require a higher degree of pilot competency including a HGFA XC Endorsement. Pre expedition support is also available for anyone who would like to give it a go but needs a
bit of assistance to prepare for the journey.
On previous expeditions we have found that the flight planning airspeed of 28 Kt ( roughly 50 Kph ) is too fast for most wings to sustain over a long flight, so in 2018 we will be introducing a limited number of hire wings for pilots
who don’t own cross country capable wings and want to experience the freedom of owning a true bivouac paraglider.
